Rest and Relax

If you are not skiing or snowboarding or just taking a day off the mountain Saas Fee has plenty to allow you to relax and unwind.  Whether taking a light walk through forest trails, enjoying a relaxing jazz styled coffee shop or a spa day.  The town is also filled with history, visit the museum or take the wine tour to learn and enjoy a selection of wines produced in the region.

Our Top Rest and Relax recommendation: Aqua Allalin. A recent addition to Saas Fee, a new wellness centre located on the edge of the gorge, experience modern wellness facilities with views over and across the gorge.  Saunas, steam room, onsen pool, a relaxation room, a gym and a 25 metre swimming pool.  A perfect way to unwind and relax.

Restaurants

Saas Fee has a vast selection of restaurants in the village.  Ranging from friendly Italian to Michelin star chefs.  While in Switzerland be sure to experience the local produce and local wines, carefully selected from vineyards across the canton of Valais.

Our top restaurant recommendation: Arvu Stube, found at the town square, a friendly place offering a selection of local dishes plus a few lighter options.  When you have finished, you can head upstairs to the Steinbock bar to enjoy the smooth music and comfortable atmosphere.

Bars and Nightlife

Any mountain resort wouldn't be complete without apres ski.  Saas Fee is no different, enjoy The Larix bar at the bottom of the slopes, stopping off at The Black Bull, playing loud euro pop on an open deck.  If you wish to dance the night away head to Popcorn and Poison nightclubs staying open until the early hours of the morning.

Our top apres ski recommendation: Nestis Ski Bar.  Found on the main street back from the ski slopes, this ski bar has a selection of drinks and a small menu of hot food.  Combined with friendly service and great music, this is the place to be after a day on the mountain.

The highest piste tops out at 3600m, most pistes sit between 2500 - 3500m wrapping around the Saastal glacier, over 100km of skiable terrain. Combined with the ski areas north facing aspect this makes the resort one of the most snow sure in the alps. Off

Getting There

airline

Flights

Saas Fee is easily accessible from a number of airports: Geneva, Zurich, Basel, Milan Malpensa and Sion. Geneva and Zurich both have the easiest connections to resort. Sion airport is significantly closer but smaller, Swiss Air are running flights from London City airport to Sion throughout February this year. If travelling by train, Zurich has the fastest connection with more comfortable trains and a more scenic route than Geneva. In our experience, Easyjet and Swiss Air provide the most cost effective and reliable services into the Alps. The location of Saas Fee means it is possible to fly into one airport and leave from another if the schedule and cost is more suitable. It is not usually possible to ski on your day of arrival, however if you have a late flight on the last day it can be possible to fit in some mountain time on your last day. If you have any questions about the best options from your location, get in touch, the Alpine Retreats Team will be happy to help out.
