Mountain Activities

Skiing & Snowboarding

With over 100km of piste Saas Fee has something for everyone.

From wide and steady beginner slopes to accessible - guided - big mountain and off piste skiing.

As this resort is glacial, a guide is a must when wanting to meander away from the pistes.

If you are looking to explore other areas in the Saastal Valley a short bus ride will take you to the resorts of Saas Grund, Saas Almagell or Saas Balen.

Beginners

Saas Fee has excellent skiing for beginners with large nursery areas at the edge of the village and great blue run skiing from the second Alpin Express station back down to resort. The Maste 4' blue slopes are wide and sunny and there is some great cruising above the Langfluh, accessible from the new high speed Spielboden gondola.

Intermediates

With lots of wide open and well-groomed pistes, Saas Fee is a paradise for intermediates. If you take the Felskinn or the Alpin Express 1 and 2, you can then take the highest funicular railway in the world to the Mitellallalin at 3500m. From here you have access to some of the best skiing Saas Fee has to offer. As this area is glacial, T-bars are your mode of transport. Below this, the Langfluh (2888m) has some steeper, more challenging runs back down to the resort.

Advanced

The glacier offers year round skiing and guaranteed snow with skiing from 3500m. The top of the Felskinn offers some excellent powder skiing and steep and heavily mogulled runs. You may also notice on the piste map, a number of yellow (itinerary) runs. These are not for the faint hearted and require good off piste, powder and mogul skills. Providing a challenge for the most experienced skiers and riders.

Snowsports Schools

There are 4 Snowsports schools in Saas Fee, each offering a variety of products.

We recommend and work closely with Optimum Snowsports School. Offering group lessons in English and private ski and snowboard lessons in a variety of languages.

Their instructors are highly qualified with many seasons of experience.

Each lesson is individually tailored to the learner, meaning a personalised experience to ensure you get the most from your lessons.

Our Top product recommendation!
Half day private lessons

Having a one on one instructor ensures, the lesson is tailored to you, your learning style and your technique. The lesson can move at your speed, 3 hours is enough time to learn some skills apply them on the variety of terrain that Saas Fee has to offer.

As a bonus you have the afternoon to yourself to ski or ride with family or friends and show off your new skills.

We recommend 3 - 5 half day lessons through your stay.

They provide a vast array of products and packages to ensure you can get out and explore what Saas Fee and the surrounding valley has to offer.

Our Top product recommendation: The Adventure Package - Glacier trekking and via ferrata (2 days). A product allowing non skiers and riders to experience the wonders of the alpine environment.

On day 1, experience the Gorge Alpine via ferrata, navigating the gorge via, suspension bridges, abseiling and pendulums.

On day 2, exploring the off piste glacial terrain of the Hohlaub glacier at 3200m, a snowshoe tour with uninterrupted views of multiple 4000m peaks, touring over to the famous Britannia Hut, before returning to the Felskinn lift station. Both experiences are memorable, and left unchecked by most visitors to Saas Fee, get out there and explore.

Sledging

An enjoyable activity for all ages, Saas Fee has a 6km sledging track accessed by the Hannig gondola, included in your Saas Fee ski pass.

Either take a day off from skiing and riding, or hire a head torch and choose the night sledging option.

Our top product recommendation: Night Sledging - Tuesdays between 6 - 9pm
Hire a head torch and sledge from the Hannig lift station, enjoy some food at the Hannig Restaurant - then enjoy sledging the 6km run through the forest with only your head torch to light the way!
